A couple years back when Bailey dropped “Fuck Yo Couch” you couldn’t have told me that he wasn’t the next dude to blow up out of the Bay. So much so in fact I drove 3 hours to see him play at Sweet Jimmy’s in Oakland, only to have him come out at 1:30 and play 2 songs. That show kinda foreshadowed what was to follow. He dropped Champ Bailey and released the video for “U C It” and that’s pretty much all we’ve heard from him (minus label drama, but what musician doesn’t have that right now) in 2 years. Amidst all the irrelevance on Siccness, I found this chunk of pyrite…
“Latest Street Album from Bailey…Just Listen. He will be throwing up a few songs on his myspace page this friday the 6th. The C.D. features singles “Work the Magic” and “I Got Bands” along with other unreleased heat Produced by Major League (CityboyzMuzik in house producer). Bailey would like to say Thanks to all those for being patient and especially those for sleeping on him, now living in Atlanta to get his southern buzz up, so hopefully before next year his label CityboyzMuzik/J Records will not be scared to put out a single due to troubling times in the music industry.”
To the four people who care this is great/interesting news. ATL???

If you haven’t checked drummer Mamao Conti and Madlibs’ Jackson Conti project, Sujinho, do that.
In celebration of the release Jackson Conti was joined by DJ Nuts, J Rocc, Thalma de Freitas, B+ and Coleman for a live broadcast dubbed Sujinho Radio. There are three parts, and all together it runs…hella long. Open a new tab, let it play and get to work.

Early morning antique store digs…And that’s why I can’t stop.
Infinite props to the blogs who take the time to digitize joints like these.

If you were to look at my most played list, Flying Lotus would be King Of The Moutain. I think the first beat tape I had heard from him was Raw Cartoons, and ever since then I’ve been hooked. It’s crazy to me because with each release he seems to be moving further and further away from a “traditional” rap sound, with his latest album Los Angeles being a far out ambient/electronic album. If you would have asked me what I thought about electronic music when I first heard Raw Cartoons I probably would replied ‘hate it’ but Flying Lotus has single handedly evolved my taste in music. Not to say I actively pursue the genre, but albums like Los Angeles have opened me up to a whole new world of music I didn’t think I liked. Anyway, XLR8R.TV has a dope feature on the man worth checking out. I can’t get the video to embed, so you’ll have to follow the link.
Flying Lotus’ HIgh Score on XLR8R.TV
and as a bonus, here is a link to Flying Lotus’ 5 hour Brainfeeder radio show. I haven’t gotten through the whole thing, but the first hour is dope!

I had never heard of Izza Kizza prior to today, but apparently when Timbaland isn’t making soft rock ballads he’s fucking with this dude. He kinda reminds me of a male version of Missy Elliot; bizarre flow, free flowing topics and just a different flavor than what we’re used to. The production is dope, and with the exception of a few all these tracks seem to be originals (the only rapper “mixtapes” I fuck with). This one won’t be for everyone, but I can appreciate it for what it is. Click the image to download Kizzaland, mixed by Nick Catchdubs (can’t knock the hustle!)

Still can’t believe it. The homie Z-Man is doing it! Been a fucking long time coming for the entire group, and I personally couldn’t be happier for all of them. True skill will shine in the end!

C Bloom and MF DOOM audio interview, from October 2005.
I always hated doing these podcasts because I hate hearing my voice, but this one was too good not to bring back up.

After collaborating for years churning out classic after classic, Z-Man and Luke Sick are doing what we’ve all been waiting for and releasing a full album together. Dubbed the Motel Crew, Z and Luke go in over some mainy production from Mike 2600 (peep the art steez) and Doug Surreal. The first single “Don’t Ask Permission” is a testament to the bugged that is the Motel Crew, and I personally love every second of it. I can say without hesitation that it’s unlike anything else I’ve ever heard, and I’m very curious what the rest of the world thinks. I beleive they could make some noise when the record drops, so we’ll see.
In the meantime, download “Don’t Ask Permission” and spread that mother fucker EVERYWHERE. Tell em the Motel Crew is about to rush the spot and take this bitch over.
