Mid-Century Records debuts Jiino

This is the debut video by Jiino from his album My Soul Is Back, off the newly started Japanese label Mid-Century Records. My good friend DJ Toh is the CEO, and also stars in the video, so I had to throw it out there. I met Toh in college while he was out in the states on an exchange program. We linked up through DJ’ing and rocked a bunch of parties together. He cleans every record after he plays it, and does not take well to young drunk college girls giving him song requests. I could go on with stories, but we’ll just end it there.

No better way than to kick Friday off than a some new Fist Fam. The homies from Ashville, NC sewed up this 21 track mixtape of originals and some beats other people paid a lot of money for. It’s called Drunk Again and it’s knocking. “SF State Of Mind” by the renaissance man Gus Cutty is the joint. Check the video while you download the mixtape. DON’T SLEEP!!!

Another Flying Lotus related post, but this one is on some other other shit. The video is directed by Eric Wareheim and probably should be viewed at a place where the only people monitoring your internet are faceless. Click the picture to bare witness.

You need this in your life.

Ridiculous props to Leigh Feldman for the link.

Wait, what?

True indeed this picture is hard as fuck, but a bedazzled Lynch Mob shirt? A wise man once said irony is cliche, but this one just seems too wrong to ever be right.

Latarian and Law & Order?

Law and Order: Special Victims Unit has been known to fuse bits of real life or popular culture into themes of their shows. I’m not a regular viewer, but happened to catch an episode last night that started out with a boy throwing shit and having a fit after being detained for stealing his mothers car. They asked him why he stole the car, and without remorse the kid said, “because it’s fun.” Later in the episode the kid lost his shit when his foster parents took a soda away from him, which for the sake of this post I believe to resemble Latarian’s chicken wing incident. There weren’t any other parallels, but I can’t help but think they purposely left out, “to do bad things” so that my dude wouldn’t get his royalities!

Cold game.

Black Milk- “Give The Drummer Sum”

Been meaning to post this one up…“Give The Drummer Sum” is the first single off Black Milk’s album Tronic, which drops October 28th. It’s an interesting choice for a single (I commend and approve it), but for a cat like Black Milk who has commercial viability I would have assumed he would have gone that route instead of a song that focuses on his musicianship.

Follow the jump for a video of Black in the studio working alongside a team of musicans creating “Give The Drummer Sum.” Some real producer shit right here.

Radiohead “Reckoner” Remixes

Radiohead is holding a competition of sorts, challenging producers to remix “Reckoner” off their latest In Rainbows. I can’t front, what initially lead me to the site was the mention of a Flying Lotus remix, but there are some other jewels to be heard.

Peep the Radiohead/Remix/Reckoner series here.
